Royals 6, Twins 3

Well, the Twins lost to the Royals today.  I always root for the Twins to win, of course, but I really don't mind that the Royals won.  Here's why.

-The White Sox won today too.  I want the Bitch Sox to end the season in last place.  Since the Twins are out of contention for the playoffs I can say that without worrying about the karmic repercussions.

-The Royals were mired in a 7 game slump.  Had they lost today, they would've been swept at home, two series in a row.  That would just plain stink for them.  It can't be any fun to go to work and lose every day.

-Their staff ace, Gil Meche, was pitching.  We in Twins Territory know it feels especially crummy to lose when your ace is pitching.

The Twins start their last homestand of the season on Friday night against the Tigers.  That makes me feel really bummed out.  I guess it's almost time to bring out our Batgirl "The Offseason Sucks" t-shirts.

Go get 'em on Friday, guys.  Go avenge those one-run losses.  Playoff hopes are dwindling for the Tigers too.  Go have some fun being the spoilers.

Thanks to http://lipglossbaseball.blogspot.com/ for her shout-out to us in her blog entry for today.

p.s.  Pictures and account of trip are coming.  I need to figure out a better, faster way to resize the pics than what I'm doing now.  Straight from the camera they're way too big for a blog entry.

Karma

Mariners 9, Twins 4

I almost feel responsible for that loss last night.  It's karma, meting out justice.  You see, I realized yesterday that the White Sox had lost 8 in a row.  They fell into the cellar of the AL Central, a full game behind the Royals.  And it all gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.  There's nothing wrong with thinking these things, but I was foolish enough to tell Becca, "That kind of gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside."  Big mistake.  My bad karma cost the Twins a game they could ill afford to lose.  Think about it.  Matt Garza gave up more home runs in three innings than he has in the previous 2.5 months since he came up from Rochester.  Heck, forget home runs.  He's hardly given up any runs at all.

It's also telling that the Twins offense managed four (!) runs last night, and they lost anyway.  That's another way karma is laughing at me.  Four runs is more than they scored in the whole series versus the Rangers, which they won.

I am begging forgiveness from the baseball deities, from all Twins fans, and from the Twins themselves.  I promise that in the future I will keep snarky thoughts to myself.  Well, I'll try.
