Joe Nathan/World Series

Joe Nathan will be back with the Twins in 2008 and it seems like they are trying to iron out a long term deal. Whew!  Joe makes me nervous, the way he fidgets on the mound but there’s no one else I’d rather have the Twins send in to save a close game. He almost never lets us down so I’m so pleased the Twins management are smart enough to keep them.

Now on to the only baseball game there is to talk about right now:
Rockies 1  Red Sox 13

Ouch!  The Rockies got whooped last night. I had a bad feeling in the first inning.  Josh Beckett pitches a perfect 1-2-3, striking out the side.  The pitcher for the Rockies gave up a leadoff home run. I took that to be a bad sign. I watched until the score was 5-1. That was as much as I could stand.

I was chatting with a client at work yesterday, an older woman.  It was just pleasant Wednesday morning small talk and somehow the topic of baseball came around.  She asked me who I hoped would win the World Series.  This is how the conversation went:

Me: I wanted Cleveland but since they aren’t in it, then I want to Rockies.
Her: Me too.  The Red Sox are so arrogant. I don’t want them to win again.
Me: If you don’t like the Red Sox you probably don’t like the Yankees, either.
She paused for a second, got a disgusted look on her face and said, “Don’t even get me started on them.” 
 
All I could do was laugh.  I really think that most people in Twins Territory think (and they would be right) that the Yankees and Red Sox are a bunch of overpaid & arrogant fools.

I’m hoping tonight that things go the Rockies way. I would like it if they would head home with the Series tied 1 game each.
